NFL games today: New England Patriots vs. New York Giants

AUGUSTA, Maine — A week after the New England Giants’ stunning loss to the Atlanta Falcons in the Super Bowl, the New York Jets are in action again.

Coach Todd Bowles and quarterback Mark Sanchez are back at practice and the Jets are playing the Falcons for the first time in eight years on Sunday night.

The game will mark the first game in five years when the Giants are without two of their starting linebackers and safety Jairus Byrd, who is out with a knee injury.

The Jets are 4-3 after their 34-20 victory in the preseason opener.

New England beat Buffalo 27-10 in the season opener on Saturday.

The Giants lost to the Buffalo Bills 27-21 last Sunday night in their opener.

The Patriots have won five of their last six meetings with the Jets, including two in the playoffs.

New England is 7-1 against the Jets in their last nine meetings.

New York has won six straight regular-season games against New York.

The Jets are 2-3 against the Patriots this season.

New Jersey will be without defensive end Dion Jordan (ankle) and running back LeGarrette Blount (foot).
