Why the Devil’s in Alabama
The Devil’s always in Alabama.
And the Alabama football team is no exception.
There are only four teams in the country with a higher total team-defense rating than Alabama, and all of them are playing football in the same state.
The Crimson Tide also have the highest percentage of wins over opponents from both teams.
They’ve also been able to win in each of their three seasons since the 2010 season.
They have been able do so despite being one of the best teams in college football, despite being the best team in the SEC, and despite playing a game on the road against a team with the highest total defense rating in the nation.
The Alabama team has been so good at football that, according to Pro Football Focus, they’ve allowed the fourth-most total offense in the entire country, per Football Outsiders.
The other two teams that have had the best defense in the NCAA this year are Michigan State and Florida State.
The Tigers are the team to beat in terms of total defense, and that comes with their offense ranking third.
The Spartans have allowed just one touchdown through four games, but their offense ranks third in the conference.
The Seminoles have allowed a whopping 13 touchdowns through four contests, and they rank second in the league.
They’re also the only team in that division that has a better percentage of rushing yards than the rest of the conference and the only ones that have scored more points.
Michigan State leads the way with a whopping 31.5 points per game, which is tied for second in football, and the Spartans are averaging 41.6 points per contest.
That is just about a league-average offense, but they’re also giving up just 3.4 yards per play, fourth-best in the ACC.
Florida State is second in scoring at 41.5, and their offense has allowed just 2.8 yards per carry, which ranks second.
That defense is also good, as the Seminoles allow just 3 points per carry and they’ve scored 28.6 percent of the time, fifth-best.
The Gators also lead the conference in scoring and total defense.
Florida ranks second in yards per game and fourth in scoring.
It’s just a matter of time before the Gators finish with the best total offense, as they’ve ranked first in those categories every year since 2010.
If you’re looking for a reason to stay home, the only teams that could come close to Florida are Alabama and Alabama State.
Both teams have a defense that is ranked in the top five in the FBS and they play in the Sun Belt Conference, so they can’t afford to lose.
There’s no way the Gators are going to finish anywhere close to No. 1, but if you want to watch a game, don’t take anything for granted.
